TeleAtlas's Eire map coverage is very much better now that it was, just
taken a look at the latest release and coverage to my untrained eye
looks pretty comprehensive.

Is there anywhere in particular I can check for you to demonstrate detail?

Thanks - i'll probably steer the buyer towards TomTom then (i'd
already hinted their way, given that I own garminsuck.com - a protest
about how they treated me as a customer with, at the time, one of the
most expensive models they sold)

There isn't i'm afraid, but I shall endeavor to find out !

My brother uses NAVIGON in the Republic of Ireland with good
success. The main problem is they don't have postcodes outside of
Dublin

Thanks - i've never heard of FreshMaps though, are they based on one
of the "known" map systems, i.e. TeleAtlas / Navteq ?

Thanks - i've got TomTom on a PDA, and that can get you to a position
on the map if necessary (in fact, I used it earlier tonight for a
relatives' house)

They don't have post codes in Dublin either - you're referring to
district numbers like Dublin 4 (Cork has these too but they're never
used). True *public* post codes are rumoured to come in but the postal
types don't want or need them, the time they would have been useful is
long gone due to technology.

Recommendations for maps: from personal experience the latest
Garmin/Navteq beats Tomtom still, especially for the towns outside the
big 5 of Dublin/Cork/Galway/Limerick/Waterford. Neither service is as
complete as for other countries: it's silly that dirt tracks in Norway
are better detailed than some main roads in Ireland (NornIrn is still
better detailed).
